Indoor camping
While watching the Little Princess this morning, Miss 3 decided she wanted to play camping as the Little Princess went camping. Out came the princess tent with the tea set and kitchen. This has entertained the kids for hours.
I love watchng the imaginary and creative play blossom.
Easter
Happy Easter!
We’ve had a wonderful Easter long weekend. It’s been great to relax, reflect and spend time together as a family. And of course we enjoyed a little chocolate and hot cross buns too.
New car
Yesterday our little car broke down on my husband’s way to work. Thankfully it didn’t needed to be towed too far to a mechanic. Unfortunately the engine blew which means it will be cheaper to upgrade to a new car than to order a new engine. It has been a great little car for our family and has taken us on long distance trips. An upgrade will be good with a growing family of two little kids and allowing us more long distance drives to visit family and friends.
During the day my husband looked around at different cars available and set up a test drive for after work. Tonight he arrived home with a new car for our family. It’s beautiful, roomy and we’re enjoying all the extras (automatic windows, cruise control).
Our new car has arrived just in time for Easter.
Sippy cup
This morning Mr 1 sat down next to Miss 3 and drank milk from his new sippy cup. He only needed a little help with getting the right angle for the milk to come out. It was a good way for Mr 1 to start drinking on his own and will help when we drop his lunch time bottle towards the middle of the year. As well as getting him used to cold milk from the fridge as opposed to warmed milk.
Over the last couple of weeks Mr 1 has started helping to pack up his toys by putting them back into their bags or containers. He gets really upset and throw little tantrums whenever any food or milk is finished, so this morning after he had finished his milk, I showed him it was finished and then carried him holding his cup to the sink. I got Mr 1 to put his empty cup into the sink. I did the same with his snack and lunch plates and he didn’t cry after finishing his meals as he completed the process himself.
Such a clever little man.
Play buttons
Play buttons are great for stimulating senses, developing fine motor skills and helps promote independent play.
Miss 3 had an afternoon of stacking, sorting and lacing play buttons she had been given as a gift. While Miss 3 was concentrating on the task of getting the lace through the holes her tongue would stick out the corner of her mouth.
Girls breakfast
This morning Miss 3 and I had a girls breakfast at Tosca’s (in our own cubicle beside the window).
First on the agenda for Miss 3 was ordering a strawberry milk. With Miss 3′s milk came an Ariel (The little mermaid) colouring in page. She perused the menu and decided the double chocolate muffin seemed the best. I enjoyed a scrambled eggs, bacon and tomato breakfast. The look on Miss 3′s face when her breakfast was brought to her was priceless. On the side of the plate next to a HUGE muffin was cream and icecream. Miss 3 did extremely well getting through almost half of the muffin.
A girls breakfast outing wouldn’t be complete without a little shopping.
Plants for the garden
Our good friends will be moving down south in a couple of weeks. It will be sad to see them leave, especially for our Miss 3 who is best friends with their kids. I will miss those moments of sharing a meal together each week and the parental journey of raising young children.
Our friends have generously given us some pot plants as they will be unable to take them alll with them. They have some beautiful plants that I am looking forward to displaying around our home and then bringing with us when we ourselves move.
It’s time for a change
This afternoon my husband received the call we’ve been waiting for..
Opportunity has come knocking. We’re moving to Atherton and the beautiful Tablelands! Not straight away of course, as such a move will take a while with a house to sell and family to re-settle, but it is happening. My husband has been offered a new job, which means regular income enabling our family a fresh start. Initially he will be commuting (1.5 hours one way) while we get things organised.
Change is exciting!
One today
Happy birthday to our sweet boy who turns ONE today!
Mr 1 loved waking up to see the lounge room decorated with blue and green balloons, a happy birthday banner and especially the paratroopers pinned to the ceiling. Miss 3 began the morning by singing happy birthday at the top of her lungs.
Mr 1 managed to master the ripping process of opening presents and loved his new boy toys. Am sure his highlight of the day was getting into the delicious chocolate cake as he hasn’t really had a lot of sweet foods.
A fun first birthday to remember.
